RAF Benson has been gaining invaluable confined area flying experience, including night-time sorties, in Cornbury’s Wychwood forest. This is essential training for the Benson based Merlin and Puma helicopters that support our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Royal Air Force Benson seeks to limit the use of night sorties to times when the training is absolutely necessary for their operations and is always anxious to minimise the risk of disturbance. All flying adheres to the prescribed UK Night Flying System regulations.
